It seems to me, particularly on the main board, many members seem to face difficulty in distinguishing opinion from fact. To that end I propose we force all current and future members to sit an exam along these lines:
1. The Black Crowes released an album called 'Three Snakes and One Charm' in 1996.
Opinion [ ]
Fact [ ]
2. The Black Crowes are the most 'rock and roll' rock and roll band in the world.
Opinion [ ]
Fact [ ]
3. Marc Ford holds an American passport.
Opinion [ ]
Fact [ ]
4. At least 14% of the press know how to spell Ed's surname.
Opinion [ ]
Fact [ ]
For an A* grade:
5. Ed knows how to spell Ed's surname.
Opinion [ ]
Fact [ ]
Tie break:
6. Marc Ford holds an American passport, but it really hates leaving a 20 mile radius of Malibu.
Fact [ ]

1. fact
2. neither... it's a fact that they're not!
3. neither... I'm sure that that is only a rumour
4. opinion
5. neither... I'm sure it's a fact that he probably has no idea
6. see 3, but if the rumour is true, then this has to be a fact
